2003: Washington Apple Commission negotiates

In the effort to reach a settlement with the growers who objected to mandatory assessments, an agreement was struck that allowed the Washington Apple Commission to remain in existence and collect a much smaller assessment for nonadvertising activities, such as pass-through funds to other industry organizations and for administering an export program that can leverage federal grants.
