SUMMARY:PEAR COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS
DESCRIPTION:Pear handlers will elect nominees for a position on the Fresh Pear Committee (FPC) of Marketing Order #927. The committee is responsible for the collection of assessments for research\, and the promotion and advertising of all pears marketed in the domestic and export markets. \nThere is one mid-term Handler FPC position for the Wenatchee district to be filled at the Marketing Associations meeting on October 20\, 2020 at noon at the Washington Apple Commission Offices at 2900 Euclid Ave\, Wenatchee\, WA 98801. \nThe Handler Member position is currently held by Randy Talley\, 1st Alternate is vacant\, and 2nd Alternate is vacant. Terms are two years\, and this position expires at the end of this season\, on June 30\, 2021. This is a mid-term nomination to fill the two vacant alternates\, and Mr. Talley will retain his member position until the end of the term in June. (Another nomination meeting will occur later this season for the position starting July 1\, 2021.) \nAll pear handlers are eligible to attend and participate in the nomination.  The committee encourages women\, minorities\, and the physically challenged\, who qualify as pear growers/handlers\, to attend and participate in the nomination proceedings.  Names of those elected will be submitted to the Secretary of Agriculture for official appointment to the committee\, and will serve for a two-year period.
