Oregon State University will hold two meetings this summer to discuss the filling of two vacant horticultural positions in the extension program.
The Hood River County spot was previously held by Steve Castagnoli, who is now the director of Oregon State University’s Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center, also in Hood River. The Wasco County position will become vacant at the end of the month when Lynn Long retires.
The first meeting will be 11 a.m. June 27 at the Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers Office, 2835 Van Horn Road, Hood River. The second meeting will be 10 a.m. July 25 in The Dalles at the Columbia Gorge Community College Lecture Hall on the third floor of Building 2.
University officials plan to discuss creating a regional horticulture position for commercial tree fruit for both counties and specific programming needs and how to address them in the interim.
Those unable to attend the meetings may submit comments to Brian Tuck at Brian.Tuck@oregonstate.edu.
