The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative is estimating  a 2017 crop of 12 million pounds of cherries, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

The estimate is the same as last year’s estimate, however British Columbia growers harvested just 8 million pounds in 2016 because of inclement weather.

The British Columbia cherry harvest is expected to begin in late June.
