The Northwest pear industry has filled one of the leadership positions vacated by the outgoing Kevin Moffitt, longtime president and CEO of Pear Bureau Northwest.
Jeff Correa has been named manager of the Fresh Pear Committee, which sets and collects assessments for research and promotions under a federal marketing order for pears grown in Washington and Oregon.
Correa also will keep his job as international marketing director for Pear Bureau Northwest, which collectively promotes fresh pears under the brand USA Pears.
Moffitt will resign as the committee manager and his job as president and CEO of Pear Bureau Northwest on July 1. He will continue to serve in a mentoring role for industry groups.
A new CEO has been hired, and the pear bureau plans an announcement in mid-July, said Jim Morris, a spokesman for the group.
