Fourth-generation California farmer David Mas Masumoto and his daughter Nikiko will be keynote speakers at the annual conference of Tilth Producers of Washington at the Yakima Convention Center, November 8–10. Masumoto is an organic peach and grape grower and author of the 1995 book Epitaph for a Peach.

The theme of the conference is “Nourishing the Future: Cultivating Our Farm Legacy.”

The three-day conference features 30 workshops on topics such as weed management, fireblight, leasing land, renewable energy, and farm financing. Spanish language sessions, farm tours, and an organic apple tasting are also planned.

The conference is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program and a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant.
