Naches, Washington-based Allan Brothers Incorporated announced the purchase of Gamache Vineyard near Basin City, Washington, today.
The purchase of the White Bluffs area vineyard will be the second major wine grape investment by Allan Brothers in the past two years.
In a release from Allan Brothers, the prominent tree-fruit grower and packer plans to have Gamache Vineyard managed by Sagemoor Vineyards, which it acquired in 2014.

January 27, 2016 – (Naches, Washington) Allan Brothers announced their family owned company will be purchasing Gamache Vineyard located on the White Bluffs near Basin City of the Columbia Valley AVA. Gamache Vineyard was developed over the last 34 years by Roger and Bob Gamache into one of Washington State’s premier vineyards. As a result of the sale, Bob Gamache is retiring from the wine industry as a grower and Roger Gamache is starting a new endeavor on Red Mountain with 5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon. Roger provides viticulture services through his custom business and will continue his participation with the Washington Wine Industry Foundation as a Board of Director.
Gamache Vineyard will be managed by Sagemoor Vineyards, a subsidiary of Allan Brothers. “The viticulture team at Sagemoor Vineyards are top notch and we couldn’t have asked for a better group to take on the legacy that has been built at Gamache Vineyard for the last thirty-four years” said Roger Gamache.
Sagemoor Vineyards and Gamache Vineyard have similar goals for the future of Gamache Vineyard. They share the same commitment of quality by way of viticulture practices and vision for the future of Washington State wine. Sagemoor Vineyards, made up of four properties, Sagemoor, Bacchus, Dionysus and Weinbau totaling in excess of 900 acres sell to over 75 Washington wineries. Gamache and Sagemoor share many of the same customers.
According to Miles Kohl, CEO at Allan Brothers, “Gamache Vineyard compliments our goals established with the purchase of Sagemoor Vineyards. Acquisition of legacy vineyards with the reputation of Gamache Vineyard provide our winery customers premium grapes to grow their brands. We will work with existing Gamache customers and Gamache Vintners to continue our premium wine strategy.”
Gamache Vineyard is known for Riesling planted in 1983, 30 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc blocks that have produced noteworthy fruit since the 1980s. Varietals grown are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne and Riesling.
