Dear Good Fruit Grower:

Many thanks for running the article on my Running Fruit Ladders project, “Large Art For Small Farms,” December 2010.

The story looked wonderful, and the response from your readers was immediate. The first week the magazine was out, we received two generous offers of wooden fruit ladders as donations to the project. With these new ladder donations, we now have enough ladders to complete the project. Our thanks go out to growers Chris Lytle of Wenatchee and Al Heffron of Sunnyside, Washington, for donating their ladders.  They will each receive a framed poster of the event and the knowledge that they really helped make this project happen.

I hope your readers will have the opportunity in May through July to visit the Columbia Gorge and see the installations. We want all of the 1.5 million travelers who pass by to know that small family farms are the backbone of this region.

See http://gorgeartists.org for updates and locations.

Thanks again for your help in getting out the message. There is a small correction—the photo credit should have been Michael Peterson.
