“Re-imagine agriculture” is the theme of Tilth Producers of Washington’s annual conference, scheduled for November 7-9 at the Hilton Hotel, Vancouver, Washington. The event will mark the organization’s 40th anniversary.
Speakers will include Raj Patel, author of Stuffed and Starved: the Hidden Battle for the World Food System, and Mary Berry, daughter of Kentucky farmer and writer Wendell Berry.
The conference, which will focus on organic and sustainable agriculture, will begin on November 7 with a choice of two day-long symposia, one on how farming practices can enhance the nutritional value of food, and the other on holistic management of specialty crops.
In addition, a technical fair will give producers an opportunity to receive one-on-one help with regulatory, environmental, financial, -marketing, and business issues.
The conference will also feature workshops, social events, a poster session, a trade show, a wine tasting and auction, and a Saturday night dance.
