The Washington Apple Commission is accepting nominations to replace Barbara Walkenhauer on the board of directors.
Walkenhauer, the current chairwoman, has served nine years on the board and will not seek re-election when her term expires in March 2017, the Apple Commission said in a news release.
Nominations for her Grower Position 5, District 2, can be made at 1:10 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Washington State Tree Fruit Association annual meeting in the Wenatchee Convention Center’s Grand Apple Ballroom South in Wenatchee, Washington.
Candidates must be a grower with orchard holdings within District 2, which covers Kittitas, Benton, Yakima and Franklin counties. Terms last three years. Only growers from the same district may nominate. The Apple Commission will offer a write-in option for candidates who wish to be nominated but do not attend the conference.
Board members meet three times annually, usually in March, May and December — with an optional meeting in October.
