E.W. Brandt & Sons, a Yakima Valley, Washington, fruit company that owns RemBrandt Masterpiece Fruit, announced a significant expansion in operations this week.
According to a news release, the company recently acquired a 45,000-square-foot packing house, controlled-atmosphere storage facility and associated office and shop capacity in Wapato, Washington, along with 380 acres of orchards.
“This gives us room to grow,” said Dana Brandt, company vice president, in a statement. “Demand for RemBrandt fruit continues to increase. This will enable us to meet that demand, expand our customer base and stay nimble in an ever-changing global market.”
The purchase both expands the company’s packing and storage capacity and allows it to consolidate operations into a single location to boost efficiency, Brandt said. The company plans to integrate its state-of-the-art Greefa sorting technology into the new facility for soft fruit and apples and to convert its current plant to additional storage.
