The Washington Apple Education Foundation announced in a news release a May 1 deadline for the organization’s annual Year of the Apple Art Contest. The contest is open to current high school students in the following counties: Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant, Benton, Franklin, Kittitas, Yakima and Walla Walla.
The Washington apple-themed contest will grant more than $1,750 in cash prizes: First place will receive $1,000, second place $500 and third place $250. The first-place winner will also have an opportunity to see his or her artwork reproduced on a poster-sized calendar. In addition to cash prizes for students, the top three winners’ art teachers will receive a $150 Amazon gift card to use for classroom art supplies.
