Young artist wins $1,000 in apple art contest

Claire Seaman, 17, a 2015 graduate of Cascade High School in Leavenworth, Washington, won the grand prize of $1,000 in the Washington Apple Education Foundation’s Year of the Apple art contest. Her painting, “Orchards of Home,” will be featured on the 2016 Dow AgroSciences wall calendar, which will be available in December.

Esteban Garibay, 17, of Sunnyside High School won the second-place prize of $500, and Iris Parada, 17, of Pasco High School, won $250 for third place.

The annual contest is open to all high school students living in central Washington.
