Conociendo a José Pimentel

¿Como empezó en la agricultura?

Empecé en 2009 en la labor general, tengo 15 años de experiencia aquí y en México.

¿Que hace falta para avanzar? 

Más capitación e inclusión. Ahora, en la posición en la que estoy, veo que mucha información no les llega a los trabajadores. No los motiva de manera positiva. Con el tema de los presupuestos, si hay dinero o no hay. Siento que todo el mundo merece estar informado.

¿Hasta dónde pretende llegar?

En el camino que llevo, sueño ser gerente. Deseo poder trabajar por mi cuenta, sin otra persona que me esté guiando. Creo que empecé en una buena edad. ¡En 5 años, voy a ser manager!

In December 2025, during the annual meeting of the Washington State Tree Fruit Association held in Wenatchee, we spoke with José, from Orondo, an assistant manager and a student in the HOEEP (Hispanic Orchard Employee Education Program) at Wenatchee Valley College.

Getting to know José Pimentel

How did you get your start in agriculture?

I started in 2009 doing general labor. I have 15 years of experience here and in Mexico.

What does it take to get ahead?

More training and inclusion. Now that I’m in my current position, I see that a lot of information doesn’t reach the workers. It doesn’t motivate them positively. The issue of budgets — there’s money or there isn’t. I feel that everyone deserves to be informed.

How far do you want to go?

On the path I’m on, I dream of being a manager. I want to be able to work on my own, without someone else guiding me. I think I started at a good age. In five years, I’m going to be a manager!
