John Griggs, a grower from Orondo, Washington, will serve on the Washington Apple Commission until March 2017.

The Washington Director of Agriculture appointed Griggs in January to replace Brian Sand as a commissioner when Sand resigned after leaving the Auvil Fruit Co.

Griggs is the general manager of Griggs Farms, which grows apples, pears and cherries on ground first homesteaded by his family in 1887.

He is a member of the board of directors of Chelan Fruit, which packs his farm’s produce. He also is a commissioner for Douglas County Fire District 4.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
