Washington State University invites growers to learn more about the university’s new apple variety, WA 64, which will be branded as Sunflare.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Sept. 24, join Kate Evans, Stefano Musacchi, Manoella Mendoza and Bernardita Sallato at the WSU Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center’s Roza farm in Prosser to look at a demonstration block with fifth-leaf, second-leaf and newly planted trees on different rootstocks (Bud.9, G.969, G.890, G.41 + M.9-337 and G.11) in various tree training systems.
The group will then move to one of the oldest WA 64 sites, in its 12th leaf, at an apple breeding program Phase 3 site at Allan Bros., also in Prosser.
