This article follows the establishment of an orchard in The Dalles, Oregon, by G. E. Sanders, a Michigan dentist who moved to the region in 1892. In the early 1900s, the grower worked with Oregon State College on studies that determined many cherry varieties, including Bing, Lambert and Royal Ann, that require cross-pollination.
