Organic Apple Orchard Academy
The IPM Institute of North America and the Organic Fruit Growers Association will host the Organic Apple Orchard Academy, a four-part virtual series designed to help beginning growers build successful, sustainable orchard operations. The program runs Feb. 9, 11, 16 and 18 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. (times are Central).
Sessions will cover orchard startup and design, pest management, horticultural practices, harvest and labor strategies, and marketing for fresh and value-added products. Speakers include Chris McGuire of Blue Roof Orchard, Rami Aburomia of Atoms to Apples Orchard, Rachel Henderson of Mary Dirty Face Farm, and Peter Werts of the IPM Institute.
The academy is tailored for aspiring growers in the Midwest and Northeast, including conventional and organic beginners, farm managers and staff stepping into leadership roles.
