  • Oregon orchards needed for wasp release

    Related: Parasitic wasps invited to a BMSB buffet Oregon State University entomologists have some parasitic wasps in need of a home. The researchers at the Mid-Columbia Research and Extension Center seek roughly a dozen volunteers to allow them to release Trissolcus japonicus, the egg parasitoid of the invasive brown marmorated stink bug, according to a news release from the Hood River laboratory. Orchard sites should be in the Hood River Valley and have large populations of the pest, to increase the chances of successful natural enemy establishment, the release said.
