This fall, the Washington Apple Education Foundation is supporting over 300 college students with scholarship awards totaling over $1 million, according to a press release from the foundation. 

WAEF, as the foundation is known, supports students raised in families employed in the tree fruit industry — a majority of whom are the first in their families to attend college. 

“The students applying for WAEF scholarships demonstrate remarkable potential, bringing strong academic records, leadership experiences and determination to succeed. This makes the selection process both rewarding and challenging,” said Nate Fulton, chairman of the 2025 WAEF scholarship committee, in a statement. 

Fulton also thanked the dozens of WAEF volunteers who gave their time to the selection process. 

“Together, we’re investing in the next generation of leaders,” he said.
