The Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission completed its 2026 funding cycle with the board approving 57 new and 45 continuing projects for cherries, stone fruit, technology and apples, according to a news release.
For pears, seven new and seven continuing projects were approved by the Fresh Pear Committee and Processed Pear Committee.
The research commission extends its appreciation to the Oregon Sweet Cherry Commission, the Northwest Nursery Improvement Institute and the California Cherry Board for co-funding multiple projects.

—Dec. 3, Technology, Yakima Valley College.
—Jan. 27, 2027, Apple Crop Protection, Confluence Technology Center in Wenatchee.
—Jan. 28, 2027, Apple Horticulture and Postharvest, Confluence Technology Center in Wenatchee.
—Feb. 18, 2027, Northwest Pear, Yakima Valley College.
