  • 2000: Standout apple varieties coming from New Zealand

    The era of open access to new apple varieties is over, New Zealand fruit breeder Allan White told Good Fruit Grower in 2000. Breeders need commercial partners to manage the rights to varieties and lead the commercial development.  In his case, that partner is ENZA, which began as the marketing arm of the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board and began to license its cultivars to Washington growers.   See all Good Fruit Grower Flashbacks
