    One of the Washington Apple Commission's major roles is to protect its intellectual property—such as the famous Washington apple logo. Digital imaging has made counterfeiting easier.

    Washington Apple Commission President Dave Carlson wears the Washington apple logo in blue. Imitation is a form of flattery, they say, but the Washington Apple Commission doesn’t see it that way. Though the commission is no longer promoting Washington apples on the scale that it used to, it is still strongly protecting the famous Washington apple logo from wannabes and imposters.
