    New Zealand grower and energy-advocate Mike Casey shares his experience with electric farm equipment.

    —It started as an experiment for grower Mike Casey, who bought 9 hectares of farmland in the Central Otago region of New Zealand and planted high-density cherries in a UFO system in 2019. His vision to adopt electric equipment started with an electric golf cart and has expanded to 21 machines, including irrigation pumps, frost fans, tractors, sprayers and even the truck that hauls his 80 tons of export-market cherries to the packing house each harvest.
